PEER GROUP SUPPORT FUND

Purpose

PCR/WOCN has a strong belief in supporting the continued growth and success of wound, ostomy and continence care among health care providers and the community. The Peer Group Support Fund will be made available to a deserving peer group within the Pacific Coast Region/WOCN to facilitate the development and provision of wound, ostomy or continence support and education for other WOCN nurses, other health care professionals, and the community.

Eligibility

A WOCN Peer Group with Pacific Coast Region affiliation can submit a request for funding for their project at anytime.

Amount and Duration of Award

Awards can be up to $3000.00 and are valid for up to one year from the date the reward is received. Extensions; however, may be granted by the PCR Board of Directors with appropriate justification. Requests for extensions must be submitted to the PCR President prior to the end of the one-year award period.

Criteria for Selection

The overall merit of the project will be considered by the Board of Directors with recommendations from an Awardıs Committee. The final selection will be based on the following:

  1. Target audience includes Health Care Professionals and/or community members/lay-persons that would benefit from additional evidence-based wound, ostomy, and/or continence updates/coursework/skills labs/vendor information, etc.
  2. At least two project objectives are listed that will be met during the day(s) of program presentation
  3. Additional support for the project may include a hands-on component or skills lab (vendor support acceptable) to facilitate project goals
  4. A project/course outline must be submitted to summarize the programıs structure and content to guarantee its wound, ostomy, or continence information and/or skills are evidence-based.
  5. The proposed budget will be included in the decision for funding. The budget can include rent money for space, AV materials/hand-outs, guest speakers, items for skills lab, hands-on portion of course, food, table/chair rental, advertising of the program, etc.

Procedure for Submitting Proposals

All project requests must be typed and submitted using the PCR Application Form (download MS Word Document here) which is submitted to the PCR President via certified mail with return receipt or on-line with return receipt. Requests must meet all the above criteria in order to be considered for an award.
