A Message From the President

A Message From the President

December, 2005

Holiday Greetings to all. As we get into our busy holiday season, let's look back at some of the happenings in the last months of 2005.

Our fall conference was a success with Marie Ward finding great speakers and Ways and Means providing us with another great auction. We raised about $4000.00 for our region through the hard work of Verena Esparza and Jan Wacker. With our vendor support, registrants and auction, we had a profitable program. This allows us to continue to give you great programs with expert speakers, as well as allows us to offer scholarships to our members.

As many of you know from our fall PCR conference, we were unable to elect a Public Relations coordinator for the 2006-2007 term due to problems with our ballot. After our conference, the Board of Directors got together to appoint Susan Schardt in this position. Susan has accepted this position and will be joining the Board starting in January. Susan has been an active member of our Education committee the past few years and has been the liaison to our vendors at our educational programs. We are looking forward to her enthusiasm in her new Public Relations role as well as continuing to act as vendor coordinator.

During the past month, another Board position has become vacant. Dee Dingeman, our Communications Coordinator, has tendered her resignation to the Board. After due consideration of potential candidates, an invitation to Julie Lindfors was extended to fill the remaining year left of Dee's term. Julie has accepted this position and will also be joining our Board in January. We are very grateful to Dee for her participation this past year and wish her well. We welcome aboard Julie as the newest member of our Board.

If you have the opportunity to speak with either of these ladies, please congratulate them on their new positions.

In other news, our dear friend and President of Nu-Hope, Gene Galindo, is battling prostate cancer. He is at home with his lovely wife and WOC nurse, Mickey. He has been a vigilant supporter of PCR for many years and has worked tirelessly to help our region in many many ways. I know he would appreciate hearing from you. His address is: 11527 Orcas Ave., Lake View Terrace, CA 91342, and his email address is: gene@nu-hope.com. Your thoughts and prayers are welcome. Please take time to send him a card or email this holiday season. He really enjoys reading everything. Gene can also be honored by donations to the American Cancer Society.

While it is still 3 months away, plan on attending our spring conference in Carmel, CA. Marie Ward has prepared another outstanding program with great speakers. What a beautiful place for a conference. Plan on staying longer to enjoy the scenery and explore the wine country. The brochure will be available on our website soon.

I hope your holidays are relaxing and fun, regardless of what you are doing or where you are spending it. We will see you next year.

Judy Papen,
PCR President
