Message From the President

Summer, 2008

. We were able to complete the slate of nominations for 2009 and ballots will be available in August - Don't forget to vote.

. The World Union of wound Healing Societies recognized 23 individuals for their contributions to the advancement of wound care. Yvonne Fowler received a Lifetime Achievement Award for contributions that have resulted in improved patients outcomes by the WUWHS Congress 2008 - PCR is proud of you and your outstanding work.

WOCN awarded two nursing scholarships to 2 PCR members for education: Kathleen Kelmna and Richard Schneider. Congratulations to Kathleen and Richard, PCR is proud of you - keep up the good work.

. The 40th anniversary of WOCN was inspiring - we had the opportunity to review the beginning of our wonderful organization through the memories of past presidents. The stage was filled with past presidents who shared the joys and pains of a growing organization up to the current president who has to lead us forward - there was not a dry eye in the house.

The conference was stellar with exciting topics relating to wounds, ostomy and incontinence. The vendor hall was packed with lots of exciting clinical information/samples and even a chocolate designer. The abstracts were very informative with over 200 abstracts available for review.

92 First Time Attendees were present for the WOCN conference - we are happy to welcome you to the PCR family. You should receive PCR information in the mail shortly but if you have questions please call any member of the BOD. The PCR website www.pcr.org is available to assist you.

The PCR Regional meeting on June 28, 2008 was very successful. Over 55 PCR members and guests attended and enjoyed the social hour. We look forward to meeting with you at the next Regional meeting in St. Louis.

.
The Fall Conference is fast approaching. The dates and location have changed: Hilton at Arden in Sacramento, CA on October 24-26, 2008. The speakers and topics are exciting. I look forward to seeing many of you in Sacramento.

.
PCR is always in need of creative and energetic people to help lead our organization - call me if you have an interest 916-838-5928 or joycemoss_@hotmail.com

Sincerely,
Joyce Moss, PCR President
