A Message from the President
Greetings
I hope you all are enjoying the summer and have had some time to relax and do some of the things you wanted to do. I wanted to bring you all up to date on the work of your Board of Directors and plans for the future. At an emergency board meeting on July 26 we appointed Gayle Clayton as our new Vice President and Fran Boughey as our new Parlimentarian.
Gayle and Fran are two long time members of PCR who volunteered for jobs in PCR because they were anxious to become active in the organization again. We are very happy to have them as our newest officers. Does that inspire any of you to get involved? I hope so. By the way our Board meeting in July was a conference call which saved the organization much money, as we didn't have to pay for travel and hotel expenses. It worked very well for us as we had a small, very specific agenda.
The web page continues to excel under the direction of our super communication chairperson, Kelly. The ballots and by-law changes are ready to go out. Please read them and mail back your votes. They will be coming in separate mailings. It is a very expensive proposition to copy and mail so much paper but it is crucial that you be aware of what is happening in your organization and have a say in it. Please ,please respond so your money isn't wasted.
The October meeting sounds wonderful, be sure to register soon for both the hotel and the conference. If you do it by the deadlines listed we get "credit" with the hotel for your attendance. If you don't respond by the deadline we are penalized financially. If you think you are coming, please make your reservation, as it can always be cancelled 24 or 36 hours before the arrival date with no penalty.
On a sillier note, I was cleaning out my dresser drawer with T-shirts and began to wonder who of you has the oldest Nu Hope Fun Run T-shirt. Bring your oldest shirt with you to the October meeting. I happened to put on the 1991 one but I'm sure some of you have even older ones. Another silly thing-who of you has the photos of Lee Greer in the mink stole, collar and cuffs of his shirt from one of our very earliest auctions? Let me know if you do. For our more seasoned members the above will bring back very funny memories and for you newer members you are probably wondering what that was all about. Talk to one of us in October. There are many, many PCR stories to be shared. Aren't you glad you read this long message to the end?
See you in October, Jo Ellen |
FOUND - Video of PCR at Caesar's
The video is 115 minutes long; starting from the View if the marquee to the practices and make-up and the grand finale: THE DANCE. "PCR on Stage at Caesar's"
Thanks to Valerie Marron for locating the video. I may try to show about the last 20 minutes of it at the meeting...Anyone interested in a copy, please contact me as possible; I'll be making two copies before the October meeting and can do more if there is interest.

New Mentoring Program
What is a mentor? A mentor is someone who is willing and able to share expertise, knowledge, experience and entusiam with a colleague. The mentoring relationship is based on mutual trust and respect with a dersire to promote professional growth of both clinicians. Each individual will have a special reason for either wanting to be a mentor or wanting to be mentored.
Perhaps you are a new ET and need someone to talk with about problems you are encountering or perhaps you are a seasoned ET who is thinking about going into a new field, such a private practice and need someone to talk with about getting started. Perhaps you have just begun home health and are overwhelmed by the PPS . Perhaps you live far away from any other ET and just need someone to talk with. The mentoring program is just for you.
It works by talking with Jo Ellen Miller, our vice president of PCR. She will compile some specific information about you, your strengths, your needs and wants and your location. She will then try to find a match for you from others who have contacted her.
You may contact her several ways but because of the rather detailed information she will ask of you she will most likely return phone calls in the evening. She can be reached by phone at work 510-596-6416, at home 415-897-3410, e-mail at joellenmiller@yahoo.com and as a last resort Joellen.Miller@kp.org. Please be sure to leave a home or evening phone number, as there is no time to return your call during the day except on Saturdays.
We are very excited about our new mentoring program. Read all about it! |
