Message From The President
Hopefully this finds each of you enjoying your summer, perhaps with special outings or vacations planned with family and friends. Rest and relaxation is always welcome after months of really hard work.
I would like to share with you the results of the NEEDS SURVEY that was published in the last issue of Timely Topics. My sincere thanks to each of the 24 members who took the time to complete the survey and return it to me.
In summary, most of those who responded do attend PCR meetings as well as the local support group in their area. Most attend a large National Conference, also. As suspected, the majority would not attend a two-day mid-week PCR function, but prefer functions on the weekend (excluding Sunday "for God and family").
Most all felt PCR supports professional growth of its members and that educational offerings are beneficial to their practice. EVERYONE felt that PCR business meetings are essential for growth and development of the membership and to keep the organization viable. Seventy five per cent of the respondents personally finance the registration and expenses related to meetings/conferences, without outside assistance.
Two thirds of those responding have not accessed the PCR Web site. I am so glad that everyone responded they read the Timely Topics and most find it informative. It appears this needs to continue to be our primary source of communication with all members. Meanwhile, the Officers are committed to encouraging and mentoring our colleagues so that most will be able to make this "giant leap" into the world of technology. Many of us have been dragged there "kicking and screaming" and as frustrating as it may be at times, realize this is the way of the future.
Another added bonus of the survey...several of you checked that you would consider serving on the Board of Directors. I will be forwarding your names and address to the Nominations Chairperson, Mickey Galindo. When she contacts you please let her know how you would like to serve. Thanks to each of you who specified you would consider this. I can assure you, the satisfaction felt from working with ones professional organization far out weigh the frustrations, most of the time!
I am eagerly looking forward to our fall meeting in San Diego. Come join us for informative and interesting educational presentations, as well as fun for all. Once again, we will be having an auction on Friday evening so please bring those items you may have laying around. Remember, one person's castaways may become another person's treasures. What a fun-filled way to help your organization. See you in San Diego, America's Finest City!
